SATAKE CUTLERY MFG. Co., Ltd. was founded in 1947. Its origins go back to the sword-making days long ago.

The company employs over 40 people, including craftsmen, and has introduced modernization into its traditional production system. As well as the quality of the knives, the quality control system is extremely strict: the president himself goes to the site and if the knives are not sharp enough to his satisfaction, the production has to be redone. In fact, I did a test cut with a kitchen knife I had purchased, and it had a terrible sharpness.

The third president, Yasuhiro Satake, graduated from Keio University, one of Japan's most prestigious universities, and has a network of contacts in Japan and abroad, as well as in political and business circles. He is a well-known figure in Seki, with a human charm that endears him not only to his customers but also to his employees.
